**Based on annual production volumes, product mix and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Sonae Arauco estimates that the wood-based products manufactured in 2025 store approximately three million tonnes of CO₂ as biogenic carbon during their service life.

Raw materials from certified or controlled sources

The company invests in a value chain that starts with the use of raw materials from certified or controlled sources, incorporates by-products from the wood industry and, in a circular approach, closes the cycle with the reuse and recycling of wood residues, which are also used in the production of wood-based panels.

Circular bioeconomy model

Sonae Arauco's activity is based on a circular bioeconomy model that applies the principle of cascading use of wood resources. When wood can no longer be reintegrated into production, the remaining material is used as a source of energy in the company’s industrial units.

As part of our commitment to society, our people and the environment, Sonae Arauco received an EcoVadis Gold Medal in 2026, placing it among the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis at the time of the rating. This evaluation covers 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes - Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement - and reflects the maturity of our sustainability management system and our commitment to promoting transparency throughout the value chain.
